How do you know what to buy anymore? It is sad that oftentimes a recall does not occur until a child dies. This is the case with the Ameriwood Entertainment Center. The Tiffin, Ohio company is "voluntarily" recalling one of its entertainment centers now that there has been fatality when one collapsed on a 19 month old child. The child died.

As consumers we need to seriously consider what "voluntarily" recalling a product means. Does it mean that to cut your losses fast you notifly the Consumer Product Safety Commission and get your product on its recall list once someone has been hurt? Or do companies constantly monitor the safety of their products. You will find that all too often the products have to hurt someone first. I am especially troubled that so many of the recalled products in our country today are ones that children play around or with in their home environments. You can find the above product and others like it at the U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's website, http://www.cpsc.gov.
